Grace Reflections August 12, 2015

Dear Grace Family,
There are lots of wonderful ministries happening this month at Grace, so we are asking that you pay careful attention so that you can invite neighbors and friends to be a part of these gatherings, as appropriate.  One of our convictions at Grace is that we gather together for worship and discipleship, and our corporate interaction when the Spirit of Jesus is present and in control is more powerful than our individual witness.  As people outside of Grace experience some of the love and grace which is present as we gather, this points them to Jesus and to the gospel.  It is our desire to share the gospel with those who do not yet know Jesus.  One of the things which creates an open door for the gospel is when people gather with us to experience the love of Christ through the body of Christ.
With this in mind, please take a moment right now to read through upcoming events and stop to ask the Lord who you know who might benefit from this type of gathering.
*Saturday, August 15 from 10-12 is a marvelous family event when kids and at least one of their parents can build together with tons of Legos.  We are calling this Lego Family Fun Day.  Will takes the first 10 minutes to explain how our Creator has made us in His image, so creativity does reflect something of who God is, which is why our children enjoy these kinds of activities.
*Sunday after worship, we wanted to give the Grace family the chance to congratulate Jon and Kayla for their recent marriage, since many of you could not come to the wedding and reception.   Please bring a dish to share with others and celebrate with them.
*On Wednesday, August 19th, we are moving both Abound, our youth ministry, and our Thursday Adult Discipleship to Wednesday evenings at 6:30.  I will be leading the adults to look at a Theology of Worship, which we are calling, “Worship– What It Is and What It Looks Like”.  There is a second adult class– a Priscilla Shirer study on “Jonah”.  Also, we would love to be able to have a class for our kids, and have one leader for this, but we need 3 more leaders to step up to help lead or support our children in this ministry.  If you are interested or able, please let Bryan or Will know.
*August 22nd is a full day of ministry opportunity!  In the morning, from 8-12, Grace is sponsoring a work day at the Yahweh Center to help restore flower beds.  No experience is necessary, but bring work clothes and gloves, a shovel and sun screen!  Tina Cessna is leading this, so feel free to contact her for more info.
Then, the youth are having a pool party at 3 p.m.  This event will be a chance to have fun and a great chance to invite a friend.
Finally, the Children and Family Ministry is hosting a movie for kids at 5:30, “Big Hero 6″.  Invite your neighbors and friends to this too!
*Your elders have called a Congregational Meeting for August 23rd immediately after worship, to address staff salary increases, as requested from the November 2014 Congregational Meeting.
*Finally, we have reserved Kiwanis Park Picnic shelter and one of the ball fields on Labor Day, September 7th from 5-8.  This is another fabulous opportunity to bring friends and neighbors!  We will eat– bring your own dinner; play games– softball, volleyball, frisbee, etc.; laugh and talk and simply have fun!
Please mark your calendars, because it is difficult to communicate all of this on a Sunday morning!  For these events to have impact as we believe Jesus would have them, it requires you inviting others to join us.  Please be in prayer.
Delighted to be a part of what the Lord is doing,
